Scandal is rocking Cape Ann after a local photographer captured the Man at the Wheel and Our Lady of Good Voyage locked in what appeared to be a passionate — but poorly timed — embrace at the Cape Ann Big Band concert this weekend.
“One second they were holding each other like shipwreck survivors, the next he’s gripping that wheel like nothing happened and she’s back to pretending she’s worried about Portugal,” said concertgoer Alicia Fontana.
Neither statue responded to requests for comment. The Fishermen’s Wives Statue, through a representative, issued a brief statement: “We ask for privacy during this difficult and extremely public moment.”
