NEWS IN BRIEF: Candlelight Vigil Held for Gloucester Wendy’s

Dozens gathered by the Gloucester Fishermen’s Memorial for a somber candlelight vigil Sunday evening to mourn the sudden closure of the beloved Wendy’s location in Gloucester.

The crowd — a mix of longtime patrons, confused tourists, and one man dressed as Wendy herself — lit candles, left bouquets of chili cheese fries, and took turns sharing memories at the makeshift memorial, which included a framed screenshot of the location’s infamous Facebook page.

“I just feel like I lost something real,” said vigil organizer Traci Santucci. “It was a community center, a therapy session, and an emotional support drive-thru. The Baconator got me through my divorce.”

When asked about their future fast casual plans, several attendees mentioned the rumored soon-to-be-opened Gloucester Olive Garden.
